Adamson nears V-League crown

MANILA -- Adamson University (AdU) endured the gritty stand of title-favorite San Sebastian-Excelroof in nearly two hours on Thursday to move closer to its second championship crown in the Shakey’s V-League second conference at The Arena in San Juan City.

In the other contest, Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) defeated Far Eastern University (FEU), 25-18-25-19, 25-20 to zoom ahead for the third place honors.

Sustained by guest players Michelle Laborte and Nerissa Bautista, the Lady Falcons bucked a two-set loss after the opening frame to repulse the Lady Stags in the deciding set, 25-13, 25-17, 30-32, 21-25, 15-13.

Laborte and Bautista posted 22 points apiece while skipper Angela Benting wound up 21 hits, 18 coming from kills as the Lady Falcons eke out its third fifth-set victory over the highly-touted Lady Stags.
