ANOTHER regular employee of the City Government of Bacolod is facing investigation for an alleged illegal disposal of the unserviceable air conditioner units of the city.

City Legal Officer Karol Joseph Chiu said they served the show cause order against the male employee, who was assigned to the General Services Office (GSO), on Friday April 11, 2025.

He said the employee is facing grave misconduct, dishonesty, and conduct prejudicial to the best interest of the service complaints for his failure to follow the proper procedure for the disposal of the city’s property.

He added that there is evidence that the employee sold the old and unserviceable aircon units to the junkshop in 2024, and the latest was in March 2025.

Chiu noted that the incident was discovered by the department head of the GSO and a report was submitted to the CLO.

Chiu said the City Government has a disposal committee for the unserviceable equipment of Bacolod then, the Commission on Audit (COA) will release the appraisal value of the equipment and it will be subjected to bidding.

“It’s a theft, but we can no longer recover the missing old aircon units,” he said.

He added the employee has been given sufficient time to submit a counter-affidavit to explain his side then, they will wait for the decision of Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez if they will file a formal charge against him.

In February 2025, regular employee, who was assigned to the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO), was also under investigation for her alleged involvement in fuel pilferage at DRRMO.

In January 2025, two regular employees were also under investigation for their alleged involvement in processing business permits. (MAP)
