The City Government of Bacolod will begin a dry run for a proposed "green route" from the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) to Ayala Malls Capitol Central, or the South Capitol Road loop, starting today, January 16. This was announced by Atty. Marty Go, Secretary to the Mayor, on Wednesday, January 15.
Go explained that the dry run, which will offer a "Libre Sakay" (free ride), has been approved by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB). The route will utilize electric (e)-jeepney units.
On December 18, 2024, the Bacolod City Council approved a resolution adopting Resolution No. 15 from the Bacolod Traffic Authority Council (BTAC), proposing a 30-day experimental run from BCGC to Ayala Malls Capitol Central.
"We’re introducing this new green route for public transportation from BCGC to Ayala Malls Capitol Central because there are no public utility vehicles currently serving this area. We will assess whether we can accommodate more passengers traveling to this part of the city," Go said.
The proposed route will begin at BCGC, turning right onto Circumferential Road, then left onto CL Montelibano Drive, continuing to 6th Street. The route will then turn right onto Lacson Street, left onto North Capitol Road, and end with a drop-off at Ayala Malls Capitol Central.
Go also noted that in May 2024, the city conducted a dry run for two other identified "green routes" in Barangays Vista Alegre and Cabug.
