THE Bacolod City Government has extended the celebration of Chicken Inasal Festival until May 26, 2025 at the Megaworld Upper East, Councilor Celia Flor, chairperson of the City Council committee on markets, said Monday, May 26, 2025.
Due to heavy rains on Saturday and Sunday, Flor said it affected the festival’s activities and the sales of the kiosk renters at The Upper East.
She said the tenants sought the City’s assistance for the extension of the festival so they will also be given a chance to recover on their sales, adding that they are thankful to Megaworld for allowing them to stay in the area until May 26.
The Chicken Inasal Festival of Bacolod City kicked off on Friday, May 24, and supposed to end on May 25.
This year’s festival, with the theme “Inasal Goes Global,” was held in Megaworld Upper East, SM City Mall, and Ayala Malls Capitol Central.
“It was a successful event with several activities in the City’s identified festival sites,” Flor said.
She said the festival was generally peaceful, with zero casualties and no major incidents reported at the Bacolod City Police Office.
On May 25, the Arena Festival Dance Competition was held at The Upper East with seven participating barangays.
The barangay performances and their country representations include Barangay Mansilingan – Brazil; Barangay Estefania – Africa; Barangay Cabug – Africa; Barangay 29 – Brazil; Barangay Tangub - Philippines – Bacolod; Barangay Bata – Philippines – Bacolod; and Barangay Mandalagan – Jamaica.
The Festival Dancers impressed the crowd with energetic choreographies, creative storytelling, and strong cultural elements, blending the global with the local.
Of seven participants, Barangay Mansilingan was declared as champion followed by Barangays Mandalagan and Tangub as first and second runners-up, respectively. (MAP)
