The City Government of Bacolod is now planning to rehabilitate the Bacolod public plaza as well as the fountain at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC).

Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez said Monday, October 23, that the Korean-based company already presented its plans and design for the improvement of the public plaza including the fountain at the BCGC.

“The Korean-based company implemented the same projects in Vigan, Baguio, among others for the rehabilitation or beautification of the public plaza,” he said.

He added that it’s part of the design for the improvement of the plaza’s four fountains, and its flooring.

“This is one of our historical locations and we need to enhance it so that our people including the visitors will enjoy the place,” Benitez stressed.

He said the fountain at the BCGC will be improved with lights, and music and they can drain the water when there’s a big event in the area like the fountain design in Singapore, the United States of America, and Europe.

The mayor noted that he presented the design to the public so he could get comments and they will find a budget to materialize the projects that will be implemented next year.

Benitez said they need a big budget and he will ask an assistance from the national government.

He said he also showed the project proposal to First Lady Liza Marcos and she’s open to finding resources from the national government to help the city.

Aside from Marcos, he added he also showed the proposal to Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri.*
