The City Government of Bacolod will soon turn over housing units to the beneficiaries of Yuhum Housing Village under the Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino Housing (4PH) program at the Arao relocation site in Barangay Vista Alegre this month, according to Ma. Victoria Parreñas, head of the Bacolod Housing Authority (BHA).

Parreñas shared that the Asenso Yuhum Housing Project at the Arao Residences Property has completed four buildings with a total of 296 units. PAG-IBIG-approved beneficiaries are set to receive their new homes by mid-December 2024.

The program, which aims to build 25 buildings, is designed to provide safe and secure housing, especially for informal settlers (ISFs), particularly those living in high-risk "red zones" vulnerable to fire hazards due to overcrowding, substandard materials, and lack of access to basic utilities.

"This initiative represents a transformative step toward achieving a Homeless-Free Bacolod and ensuring sustainable urban development," Parreñas added.

Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez previously emphasized that the 4PH program is not only about constructing housing units but about creating communities.

“We want to showcase a community with complete facilities and amenities, a model for others to follow. It's a place where people can live, work, and play,” Benitez stressed.

The beneficiaries, including informal settlers earning at least P10,000 a month, are eligible for long-term Pag-IBIG housing loans. They will also benefit from a DHSUD subsidy, which reduces their monthly amortization to P2,300 over 30 years.

Each unit, measuring 24 square meters, is valued at approximately P1,020,000 or P50,000 per square meter, located in a four-story building.
