VILLAGE chief Tanya Familiaran of Barangay 13 in Bacolod City has resigned from her post effective June 9, 2025.
Christian Nagaynay, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-Bacolod director, said they received Familiaran’s resignation letter—she is the daughter-in-law of outgoing Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran—on June 20, although it stated that her resignation took effect on June 9.
“Familiaran cited personal concerns as the reason for her resignation, and we respect her decision,” Nagaynay said.
The DILG has already coordinated with the barangay kagawads to ensure the continued delivery of services to constituents.
“Our concern is to make sure that there’s no vacuum of leadership in the barangay,” Nagaynay said.
He said Kagawad Cecilia Chavez, the number one kagawad, will assume the post vacated by Familiaran.
Nagaynay added that they have already set a schedule to assist the barangay in the transition.
He also noted that they will wait for the decision of the barangay officials on whether there is a need to fill the post vacated by Chavez.
“We will ensure that this does not hamper the services in the barangay,” Nagaynay said. (MAP)
