THE Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) is closely monitoring all the terminals and other key locations in Bacolod City to ensure the safety and security of the riding public.
Colonel Joeresty Coronica, BCPO director, said they earlier received a report of the alleged passenger using an illegal drug inside a public utility jeepney (PUJ), and this was posted on social media.
He said they conducted a thorough investigation and close coordination with various jeepney associations and drivers, and they found out that it was negative.
He added that jeepney drivers plying the routes along Lacson Street did not witness such allegations happening inside their respective vehicles, and they vowed that if said incident occurred, they would have reprimanded the passenger and report it to the police.
Despite the negative findings, Coronica said policemen will closely monitor the public transport areas and other key locations in the city.
He said the police force will continue its proactive stance against illegal drugs and other criminal activities to uphold a safe and peaceful community.
To strengthen the fight against criminality, Coronica urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through the BCPO hotlines.
Coronica also commended the public for raising their concerns and encourages the netizens to address correct news and information on social media.
“Public cooperation is essential in maintaining peace and order, as community engagement plays a vital role in crime prevention,” he said.
