
NEGROS Occidental Third District Representative Javier Miguel Benitez has filed 10 priority bills as he assumed his post on June 30, 2025.
Benitez said in a statement that he filed House Bill (HB) 308, or “An Act Creating the Department of Tertiary Education, Defining its Powers And Functions, Appropriating Funds Therefor and for Other Purposes.”
He also filed HB 314, or “An Act Establishing A National Policy For The Development, Utilization, And Commercialization Of Energy Storage Systems, And For Other Purposes.”
Other bills filed were the following:
HB 309, or An Act Creating The Province Of Negros Occidental As The "Slow Food Hub Of The Philippines."
HB 315, or An Act Providing A Framework For Circular Economy To Promote Sustainable Production And Consumption, And National Economic Security.
HB 310, or An Act Providing For The Magna Carta Of Barangay Health Workers.
HB 311 or An Act Providing Protection And Incentives To Creative Freelance Workers.
HB 316 or An Act Creating An Additional Regional Trial Court Branch To Be Stationed In The City Of Victorias, Province Of Negros Occidental, Amending For The Purpose Section 14, Paragraph (G) of Batas Pambansa Bidg. 129, As Amended, Or "The Judiciary Reorganization Act Of 1980", And Providing Funds Therefor.
HB 312 or An Act Establishing The Agriculture Information System In All Cities And Municipalities.
HB 313 or An Act Establishing A Technical Education And Skills Development Authority (Tesda) Training And Assessment Center In The Municipality Of Murcia, Province Of Negros Occidental, To Be Known As The Murcia Tesda Training And Assessment Center, And Appropriating Funds Therefor.
HB 317, or An Act Providing For The Medicalization Of Cannabis, Expanding Access To Medical Cannabis As A Means Of Medical Treatment, Expanding Research Into Its Medicinal Properties, Enumerating Prohibited Acts And Prescribing Penalties Thereto.
“I have filed my first 10 priority bills as I officially assume office as the congressman of the Third District of Negros Occidental,” Benitez said.
He said these proposed bills are focused on agriculture, education, health, innovation, and sustainability, adding that this is just the start and progress will continue in the Third District. (MAP)
