Enough pork supply in province

There is a sufficient supply of pork in the province based on the Monthly Slaughterhouse Report as well as no increase in pork price based on the Weekly Price Monitoring Report, according to the Negros Occidental Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO).

The Swine Industry Recovery Plan of Negros Occidental is among the agenda discussed during the Livestock Consultative Conference, Oct. 12, at the PVO Office in Bacolod City.

The meeting with LGU veterinarians, focal persons on livestock, and livestock and poultry inspectors and technicians, analyzed the current challenges and opportunities for the trade of livestock and strategize to ensure a consistent and reliable supply of livestock in the province.

Dr. Yasmin Francesca Tan, Under the Swine Industry Recovery Plan of Negros Occ., discussed the Guidelines for Restocking including the Procedures for Zone Progression and Local Declaration of ASF-Free Status based on the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI).

Meanwhile, Atty. Joselito Jaballa discussed the Livestock Repopulation Plan which includes strategic direction, breeding scheme, strategies, and herd build-up.

Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Placeda Lemana thanked the LGUs for their support and cooperation in the implementation of PVO’s programs and projects. (with PR)
