Typhoon Odette-affected livestock raisers of Sipalay City and Hinobaan town received cattle, carabaos, and goats with a total value of P6,091,600 on Friday, August 4.

The ceremonial distribution was held at Brgy. Gil Montilla Covered Court in Sipalay led by Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson together with Sixth District Board Member Jeffrey Tubola, Sipalay City Mayor Gina Lizares, Vice Mayor Oscar Montilla Jr. and Provincial Veterinary Office OIC Dr. Placeda Lemana, and other local officials.

It is part of the Negros Occ. Typhoon Odette Livestock and Poultry Rehabilitation Program, which is a joint undertaking of the Dept. of Agriculture Regional Field Office 6 and the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental, aimed primarily at helping the affected animal raisers recover the loss of their source of income and livelihood caused by Typhoon Odette.

Most of the affected farming sectors are small-scale and backyard raisers who lost their sources of income during the onslaught of the typhoon. (PR)
