The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), the largest business organization in the country, has awarded John Dave Dueñas, the founder ad chief executive officer HYBrain Development Corp., the Injap Sia Outstanding Young Entrepreneur Award for 2021.

The award was inspired by the success of Edgar “Injap” Sia II who, at a young age, founded and steered the highly successful Mang Inasal food chain.

Sia eventually ventured into real estate business as chairman of Double Dragon Properties Corp, and entered the convenience store industry through Merry Mart which had a successful debut in the stock exchange in the year 2020.

This year, nine young entrepreneurs made it to the finals covering industry and service sectors.

Dueñas also received two other awards, the Outstanding Young Entrepreneur for industry and service categories.

For his part, Dueñas said he shares the award to all the Filipinos startup founders who dream for a better Philippines.

HYBrain is a software development team he founded in 2016 in Bacolod City that focuses in healthcare information technology, with its mission of leading the way in augmenting healthcare systems and bridging the gap of services through innovation.

“This award is an affirmation of my team’s hard work in alleviating the healthcare delivery processes through digital transformation,” he said, adding that it is a culmination of the support that the government agencies like the Department of Information and Communications Technology, Department of Science and Technology and Department of Trade and Industry have given to startups.

Also, it an attestation on the role of innovation in jumpstarting our pandemic-beaten economy, the outstanding entrepreneur said.

“Our healthcare system has been clamoring for the support and attention that it rightfully deserves for a long time, and this pandemic has highlighted that need more than ever,” Dueñas stressed.

Since their team started, they have been rallying for the use of information and communications technology in the healthcare industry to aid the healthcare professionals in administering care through digitization of processes, data analytics and electronic medical records.

The PCCI said it has been holding the Injap Sia Outstanding Young Entrepreneur Award since 2015.

It is the brainchild of PCCI president Benedicto Yujuico, who recognized the importance of developing young and innovative business leaders in the country, it added.*
