SSS warns Western Visayas members of scammers

THE Social Security System (SSS) has warned its members of potential scammers in Western Visayas.

The agency, in a statement, said the pension fund received reports from company employees in Bacolod City regarding some unscrupulous individuals going around the city giving out forms, and asking for their savings account number to process and release their Small Business Wage Subsidy (SBWS).

“This is to remind our members that only qualified employers may apply for the SBWS program in behalf of their eligible employees, and only those authorized employees may process the same,” it added.

The submission of applications for the SBWS program is exclusively through online, which ended last May 8, 2020.

Meanwhile, the release of the SBWS is through member’s bank account, PayMaya account or cash pick-up via MLhuillier.

SSS-Bacolod Branches have yet to resume its operation since the city was placed under Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ).

Soliciting for members’ savings account number and personal data is a violation of the Data Privacy Act of 2012, which the SSS strictly observe.

“We encourage everyone to remain cautious and vigilant in these difficult times,” it said. (PR)
