‘Car smuggler’ in immigration watchlist

ALLEGED vehicle and firearms smuggler Lynard Allan Bigcas is now under the Bureau of Immigration watchlist as ordered by the Department of Justice (DOJ).

Justice Secretary Leila de Lima announced that her agency ordered the Mindanao-based car importer who is suspected of smuggling luxury vehicles to be put in watchlist to make sure he cannot go out of country.

"He's now under investigation for illegal possession of firearms filed in the prosecutor's office in Cagayan de Oro City," De Lima said Monday.

Bigcas was a no show in the second hearing of the House Committee on Ways and Means after he and his lawyer failed to catch a flight to Manila.

De Lima said it is important for Bigcas to explain to the House panel why he was in possession of the luxury vehicles seized in his houses in Cagayan de Oro City and Bukidnon.

The alleged stolen vehicles include an $80,000-bike owned by Hollywood screenwriter Skip Woods, which according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, was stolen in Houston, Texas. (Sunnex)
