A 24-YEAR-OLD male college student was arrested in a drug bust launched by operatives of Police Station 4 in Barangay Estefania, Bacolod City around 12:50 a.m. Sunday, February 9, 2025.
Police identified the suspect as Alias Dave.
Major Elmer Bonilla, commander of Police Station 4, said the suspect was arrested after he sold a sachet of dried marijuana leaves to a poseur buyer.
Police recovered from the suspect's possession eight big heat-sealed plastic sachets containing dried marijuana leaves weighing 1.5 kilograms and with an estimated market value of P225,000. Also seized was the P500 marked money.
Bonilla said the suspect, who was identified as a high-value drug personality in Bacolod City, was under surveillance for almost a month before his arrest.
He said the suspect admitted that he engaged in illegal drugs for almost two years to support his study, adding that his supply was being shipped from Manila.
Bonilla noted that the suspect used to dispose the dried marijuana leaves in far-flung barangays not only in Bacolod City but also in the neighboring cities and municipalities in Negros Occidental.
The suspect is detained at the custodial facility of Police Station 4. He will be charged with violation of Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (MAP)
