MEMBERS of the Task Force Baklas of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Bacolod City started removing posters or tarpaulins of local candidates that were illegally hanging in various areas in the city on Friday, March 28, 2025.
Acting Bacolod Election Officer Revo Sorbito said the campaign period for the local candidates already started Friday, and they removed several tarpaulins of local candidates along Lacson St. that were placed illegally on trees and electric posts.
The task force is composed of personnel from the Comelec, Bacolod City Police Office, Department of Public Works and Highways and Department of the Environment and Natural Resources.
Sorbito said the candidate’s tarpaulin should not exceed two feet by three feet; otherwise, they will be violating the campaign rules.
He said they will also send notices to the barangays with campaign materials posted in non-designated areas.
“The barangay officials should remove the campaign materials placed in barangay halls to avoid penalty,” he added.
Sorbito noted that those who fail to follow the Comelec guidelines will face charges for violation of Comelec rulings.
The Comelec earlier identified about 100 common poster areas in the 61 barangays
in Bacolod.
Sorbito urged candidates, including their supporters, to follow Comelec guidelines to avoid violations. / MAP
