‘Communist rebels’ attack soldiers in Sultan Kudarat

SUSPECTED communist rebels attacked a military team in Sultan Kudarat province.

According to a radio report Saturday, Lieutenant Colonel Joel Alejandro Nacnac, commanding officer of the 27th Infantry Battalion (IB) of the Philippine Army, said their Peace and Development Team were attacked by armed men believed to be members of the New People’s Army (NPA).

He said the team was conducting an outreach program in Sitio New Ilocos, Poblacion, Colombio when the incident happened.

The soldiers returned bullets to the rebels, allegedly headed by Kumander Ramboy.

The suspects immediately escaped after the incident.

No casualty was reported in the attack. (Sunnex)
