BACOLOD City Councilor Jude Thaddeus Sayson urged the City Legal Office (CLO) to conduct an investigation on the alleged illegal removal of several plants around the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC).
Sayson, chairperson of the City Council committee on appropriate and finance, said he was informed that several plants were removed by unidentified persons without a clearance from the City on June 12, 2025.
He said the BCGC's building administrator personnel already reported the incident to Police Station 4.
Police Station 4 records showed Jazel Kate Sumande, personnel of BCGC building administrator, reported to police station that four unidentified persons, who introduced themselves as staff of the wife of the incumbent city official, illegally removed several bunches of Philodendron plants in front of the BCGC.
Sumande said that on June 6, 2025, five unidentified persons also took two palma plants in front of the BCGC.
Sayson said the incident should be investigated because it is part of the jurisdiction of the City.
He said they are hopeful that the incident will not happen again.
"The city building administrator should secure the city’s property within the BCGC including the plants, which it's part of the beatification of the area," he added. (MAP)
