THE Bacolod City Council has asked Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vince Dizon to open a Land Transportation Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB) satellite office in the city.
The resolution was authored by Councilor Wilson Gamboa Jr., chairperson of the City Council committee on human rights.
Gamboa said the LTFRB grants franchises (Certificate of Public Convenience-CPC) to public utility vehicle (PUV) operators, allowing them to operate on specific routes and ensuring they meet safety and service standards.
He said the drivers and operators of public utility vehicles within the jurisdiction of Bacolod City are inconvenienced in applying for CPC because there is no branch office of LTFRB.
"The city really needs a satellite office to accommodate the Bacolodnons especially, the public utility jeepney drivers," he added.
In 2019, the LTFRB closed its office in the city's Barangay Mansilingan. (MAP)
