Festival dances cap off Halad kay Kang-laon 2023

The streets were filled with colors and diverse cultures as the six local government units within the Mount Kanlaon Natural Park (MKNP) presented their respective festival dances from the City Auditorium to the People’s Park yesterday, Aug. 11.

Said event culminated the Halad Kay Kang-Laon Festival 2023 with the different performances such as the Pintaflores of San Carlos City, Bago City’ Babaylan Dance, Pasayaw of Canlaon City, Pasalamat of La Carlota, Municipality of Murcia’s Tinabu-ay, and Municipality of La Castellan’s Bailes de Luces.

City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) I Engr. Loreto Sanchez lauded the different cities and municipalities for their products, talents, booths, culture, and tradition shared during the 3-day event that amazed the guest, spectators, and officials.

He said cooperation between the six local government units made the event successful.

Mount Kanlaon Natural Park Protected Area Superintendent Dennis Piñosa hoped that everyone would continue the unity in strengthening the protection and conservation of Mt. Kanlaon.

San Carlos City Mayor Renato Y. Gustilo pledged to make the celebration five days the next time San Carlos City hosts the festival so delegates would stay longer and explore the city even more.

He led the ceremonial turnover of hosting for the 2024 Halad Kay Kang-Laon Festival to the Municipality of Murcia; Mayor Victor Gerardo Rojas of the Municipality of Murcia accepted the responsibility and confirmed to start the celebration a 5-day event. (PR)
