San Carlos gov’t employees undergo climate, disaster risk assessment workshop

The representatives of the local government unit of San Carlos City (LGU-San Carlos) are undergoing a two-day workshop on Climate and Disaster Risk Assessment (CDRA) from Sept. 27 to 28, at the Liga Conference Room, SCC Multi-Purpose Hall, Park Marina.

Vice President for Admin and Finance of Central Philippine State University (CPSU) Kabankalan Campus and Resource Person Marc Alexis Badajos said the workshop is a 5-step process focused on collecting and organizing climate change and hazard information, scoping potential impacts of hazards and climate change, developing an exposure database, conducting CDRA, and summarizing findings.

He added that the inputs of the workshop is beneficial in updating the Enhanced Local Climate Change Action Plan (ELCCAP), Comprehensive Development Plan, and Comprehensive Land Use Plans (CLUP).

Participating offices include the City Environment Management Office, City Social Welfare and Development Office, City Engineering Department, City Agriculture’s Office, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, City Waterworks Department, Tourism Office, Information Technology and Computer Services Office, Information Office, and City Health Office.

The City Planning and Development Coordinator’s Office facilitated the activity.

Engr. Eleuterio Mariño, CPSU Director of the Project Management Office was also present at the said event. (PR)
