BACOLOD City Mayor Greg Gasataya has asked the city’s garbage hauler, IPM-Construction and Development Corporation (IPM-CDC), to submit their collection route plan for the city.
Gasataya, who met with officials of the IPM-CDC on Wednesday, July 9, said he requested the company to present their collection route plan Monday, July 14.
This came after the City Government received several complaints about delayed garbage collection in various barangays.
“They presented their operations and garbage collection, but for now, I am looking at the solution. So, I asked them to prepare a collection route plan for Bacolod City,” Gasataya said.
Once the collection route plan is submitted, he said it should serve as the final schedule for garbage collection in each specific barangay.
The mayor noted that some residents in subdivisions also complained that IPM-CDC used to collect garbage around 10 a.m., which is not ideal since most residents are already at work by then.
“They have no choice but to leave their garbage in front of their house. Then, dogs scatter it. So instead of 10 a.m., they should collect earlier,” Gasataya said.
He added that IPM-CDC should speed up garbage collection in subdivisions, as well as in markets and other institutions in the city.
Aside from delayed garbage collection, he said IPM-CDC also failed to post their hotline for garbage-related complaints.
“Shape up or ship out,” the mayor said. (MAP)
