BACOLOD City Lone District Representative and mayor-elect Greg Gasataya urged the Department of Public Works and Highways (DWPH) to fast-track the dredging project along Barangay Mandalagan to address the flooding problem in the area.

Gasataya said they inspected Buri Road in Barangay Mandalagan over the weekend following some areas were flooded due to heavy rainfall.

He said the area lacks drainage because of the structure development in Barangay Mandalagan, adding that floods affected the areas of Mountain View, City Mall, Robinsons Mall and Carvic Road.

Gasataya noted that he already received the report of the DPWH and they will hold a coordination meeting with the City Government to address the problem.

Based on the initial report of the DPWH, Gasataya said the two creeks in can no longer handle the volume of water because of the development in the area.

“I requested them to fast-track the dredging of the creeks to avoid similar incidents,” he said.

He added that the last dredging activity along Rolling Hills creek was in 2017.

Gasataya said he will wait for the recommendation of the DPWH and the City Government to address the flooding problem in Barangay Mandalagan. (MAP)
