THE Bacolod City Government and Rockwell Land Corporation will hold the groundbreaking ceremony of the city's new emergency facilities along Buri Road in Barangay Mandalagan on June 9, 2025.
The facilities will include a Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRM) sub-stations.
Earl Edward Ramirez, operation's chief of DRRMO, said the project will rise on a 1,986-square-meter parcel of land donated by Rockwell Land to the City.
Aside from the BFP and DRRMO, he said the new facilities will also include a police station that will be occupied by Police Station 3.
Lawyer Marty Go, secretary to the mayor, earlier said the project was initiated by Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, with funding support from Senator Francis Tolentino, who allocated a P10 million budget in 2024.
He said the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has been tasked to lead the construction.
He added that the City Engineer’s Office (CEO) is working in close coordination with DPWH to ensure that the facility’s design complements the overall master plan and aesthetics of the development.
Colonel Joeresty Coronica, Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) director, said they will transfer the location of Police Station 3 to the donated lot of Rockwell.
He said it is the right time to transfer the station to have enough space.
"We are thankful to Rockwell so we can build the permanent office of Police Station 3, which will be funded by the national Office," he added. (MAP)
