INCOMING Bago City Mayor Marina Javellana-Yao urged all Bagonhons to stand united with the elected city officials as their partners in progress of the city.

In her inaugural speech on Friday, June 27, 2025, at the Manuel Y. Torres Memorial Coliseum And Cultural Center, Javellana-Yao said her administration will be a fresh start and a new beginning of the city.

“The election has long passed. Let us not allow politics to hinder our way to see and feel the progress of Bago City that we all dream of for our city,” she said.

She added that Bagonhons should engage actively in meaningful public dialogue, contribute their voices to important conversations, and choose always to be architects of positive change.

On Friday, Javellana-Yao also took her oath of office before Judge Mary Jennifer Protasio-Arches at the Manuel Y. Torres Memorial Coliseum and Cultural Center.

Also sworn into office were councilors-elect Robert Javellana, Imelda Precion, and Leonilo Del Carmen.

Javellana-Yao said the result of the last May 2025 elections is such a beautiful blessing of the democracy.

“This mandate I received from thousands of you, my beloved Bagonhons is truly an honor and a huge responsibility, which I wholeheartedly accepted with the Lord’s most awesome grace,” she said.

In this era of change, she added that they will move forward strong, the governance will be anchored on the framework “Asenso Bago,” a fitting tagline of where the new administration is leading Bago to in the next three years.

Javellana-Yao vowed to focus their programs on agriculture; sustainable livelihood; education, culture and sports; natural resources and environment; social services, health, and gender equality; opportunities for employment; access to roads and basic utilities; good governance and transparency; and optimization of communication and technology.

“These are the causes I am strongly committed to realizing with the support of all of you our dear Bagonhons onward to make our dream of a new Bago, a beautiful, loving reality,” she said.

She added that Bagonhons should embrace their role as active citizens, supporting their elected city officials while holding them accountable, actively participating in discussions that shape their future, and consistently stepping forward as problem-solvers and bridge-builders.

Javellana-Yao also urged the department heads and city employees to continue exemplifying the highest standards of public service, channeling their unwavering commitment and selfless devotion toward the people of Bago, whose trust they have honored to receive and whose welfare remains their responsibility.
