THE Muslim brothers and sisters of the DAL Al-DHIKR Islamic Center in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City celebrated the Eid Al-Adha (Feast of Sacrifice) on June 28, 2023.
The celebration started with an Eid Prayer, performing the sacrifice, sharing meals with loved ones, and engaging in acts of charity and goodwill.
The Eid prayer was held at the Bacolod City Government Center led by Imam Omar Betita and his wife Sister Hamidah Tanes and their fellow Muslims.
The Feast of Sacrifice is a significant Islamic festival celebrated by Muslims worldwide.
It commemorates the willingness of Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to Allah.
It is observed on the 10th day of the Islamic month of Dhul Hijjah, following the completion of the annual Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca.
During this festival, Muslims gather in mosques or designated prayer grounds for a special morning prayer known as the Eid prayer.
The prayer is led by an imam and is followed by a sermon emphasizing the spirit of sacrifice, gratitude, and unity.
At total of 21 goats and sheep were slaughtered at the Islamic centre in Mansilingan as a symbol of their offer or sacrifice to Allah.
The animal is slaughtered according to Islamic guidelines, and the meat is divided into three parts: one-third for the family, one-third for relatives and friends, and one-third for the less fortunate or those in need.
They partook in a festive lunch with families, guests and visitors and gave out some simple gifts to their members who wore new clothes as a sign of joy and celebration.
Sister Hamidah prayed for everyone for good health, peace in the home and the community and also for prosperity.
