Capitol embarks on the greening of Panaad Park

A WELL-BALANCED environment is essential in promoting the health and well-being of the community given the rise of the Covid-19 cases in the province of Negros Occidental.

The Provincial Government, led by Governor Eugenio Jose V. Lacson, spearheaded the planting of 100 endemic seeds at the Panaad Park in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City on August 11 to help grow trees that will help maintain a healthy environment, including the physical landscape of the Panaad Park.

Board Members Rita Gatuslao, Tinto Bascon, Andrew Montelibano, Pal Guanzon, Miguel Alonso, and Pocholo Yuvienco, Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz, Pemo head Atty. Danilo Amisola, and Capitol department and office heads joined the governor in the said activity by planting endemic seeds too.

The activity was likewise induced by the award of the Seal of Good Environmental Governance and Baganihan sang Dunang Manggad earned by the province.

This undertaking will help improve the landscape and carbon absorption capacity of the Panaad Park and will help conserve and protect the environment, the governor said.

Lacson reiterated the importance of protecting the environment through this kind of activity.

The Panaad Park is home to beautiful pavilions that replicate local government units in the province.

This place is utilized annually for the staging of the Panaad festival that provides opportunities to Negrenses and local entrepreneurs to showcase their talents and products. The LGUs also set up their exhibit at their respective pavilion to promote their town and cities.

Only this year that the Panaad festival was postponed due to the Covid-19 risk.
