A LOT of people are conscious about their physical appearance, which usually goes with their body weight.

But most of them keep on consuming high carbohydrates and high-fat foods, which are sure cause of weight gain.

Julian Maquiran, a ketogenic diet advocate, said going on a keto diet will help someone bring himself or herself back on the pink of health.

The ketogenic diet involves a very low-carb high-fat diet.

It aims to help an individual drastically reduce his carbohydrate intake and replace it with fat.

This reduction in carbs puts one's body into a metabolic state called ketosis.

He said the keto diet is composed of 70 percent good fats sourced from animal fats; 25 percent protein and 5 percent of green leafy vegetables.

This changes the eating lifestyle of most Filipinos who love high-carb and high-fat diets.

"Our body is designed to burn fats to convert them to energy. But because most eaters are into high carb, the body burns the carb to transform its energy which is just the body's temporary way to create energy.

The human body is a fat-burning machine, which is the fastest way of losing weight. The human body suffers from inflammation due to increased sugar and carbo intake.

But a keto diet will help deal with those body issues, he said, adding that it is only a perception that the keto diet is expensive.

"We can always replace ingredients like lettuce with cabbage. We can find less expensive ingredients to replace what we need as long as what we consume will be for our good health.

Maquiran has been helping those who have experienced slow metabolism change their old lifestyle.

Both young and old seek his assistance in charting a keto diet for them.
