CATCH it while you can and you can still catch it today at the Negros Museum.

The National Commission for Culture and the Arts, through its Visayas Island cluster program, brings to us the Lihok Visayas Arts Festival and Conference.

Lihok Visayas is from August 22 to 25, 2018.

This arts festival and conference features Visayan artists and craftsmen from Negros Island (Mugna), Panay Island (Panakayon), Bohol (Bahandi), and Samar (Layag).

The exhibitors bring us various products that showcase the creative minds of local talent.

Mugna includes the woven products from the looms of Kabankalan and Valladolid, the pandan bags of Calatrava, and very pretty cogon grass paper products from Amlan (Negros Oriental) decorated with pressed dried flowers.

Our next-door neighbor has Panakayon that features the hablon of Capiz, the sheer delicate pina of Aklan, the famous mango products of Guimaras, gorgeous hand embroidery from Antique, and hand-woven fabrics of Miag-ao.

Beautiful bucolic Bohol in Bahandi entices with their Loon handicrafts, Bulalihan squash noodles, banana and cassava chips, and souvenir items from Maribojoc that are carved from wood and coral stones.

Since August 22, Lihok activities included cultural tours, film showing sessions, stage performances, and the Lihok conference.

The last day, August 24, will have a performance from Kasing Sining of Bohol titled “Dagon sa Hoyohoy Dagohoy the BoholMusical.”

The reader might want to watch this at the Sacred Heart

Seminary at 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Lihok is a great way to connect and interact and exchange and create networks.

Lihok is brought to us by the NCCA in partnership with The Negros Museum.
