THE City Government of Bago continues to reap the rewards of what it has planted for its people, the Bagonhons. It continues to harvest awards and recognitions in various fields, a validation of its commitment to uphold genuine public service.

The latest of these feats are the Honorary Local Chief Executive Award (Blue Category) for Mayor Nicholas Yulo and the Certified Most Sustainable and Liveable City Award (Yellow Category) for the city given during the Nation Builders and Mosliv Awards 2022 at the Grand Ballroom of Okada Manila in Parañaque City on Friday, November 25.

Organized by Sustainable Standards Inc. (SSI), the Nation Builders and Mosliv Awards celebrates and honors the changemakers and leaders in sustainability across the Philippines.

The nation builders excellence award is given to accomplished professionals, individuals and government leaders in appreciation of the roles they played towards nation-building, while the most sustainable and liveable recognition is conferred to accomplished institutions, organizations, companies, provinces, districts, party-lists, cities, municipalities, barangays and communities.

In his acceptance speech, Yulo said that on behalf of the officials and constituency of Bago, he is elated and humbled to accept the award and recognition bestowed on him and the city.

For the mayor, these awards serve as a testament to their hard work and best efforts in providing the needs of the Bagonhons at the same time ensuring that Bago City remains liveable and sustainable for generations to come.

“May we never falter in our commitment towards a transparent responsive and inclusive governance whatever the situation may be so that our vision of making Bago City a haven of every Bagonhons’ dreams becomes a reality,” he added.

As he thanked the award-giving body and congratulated his fellow winners, Yulo underscored that “amid the challenges confronting our nation, Bagonhons will continue to be proud of our roots and will never lose the vigor and courage to exclaim, Go Bago!”

Moreover, Mosliv, which stands for Most Sustainable and Liveable, serves as a guide to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals for a global climate-neutral society by 2050.

The organizer, in a statement, said the event was able to gather some 800 community candidates from the government and non-government organizations (NGOs) who uphold key criteria of sustainability across governance, social and environmental factors.

In her message, Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio expressed her gratitude to the people behind the Nation Builders and Mosliv Awards for the inspiring work they have done by recognizing the active involvement of Filipinos and strengthening their capacities to promote sustainability standards in their respective communities.

"This gathering brings inspiration and complements the government's whole-of-nation approach, promoting diversified ideas and actions, and refining leadership strategies to engender long-term planning and sustainability of the economy, environment, and human capital development," she said.
