MULTI-AWARDED Jiu-Jitsu champ Negrense doctor Sunny Diego has leveled up his physical skills and agility in his chosen field of sport, Jiu-Jitsu, which is considered the most difficult martial art to learn.

This Negrense has proven to be "Sunny" not just by his name but also in his ways and stance in life, as he never wavered in his commitment to achieving his goal in life.

Doctor Diego has successfully obtained a leveled-up status as a certified self-defense teacher under Gracie Humaita Jiu-Jitsu, trained and certified by Master Royler Gracie, the son of former Grand Master Helio Gracie and Gracie Humaita Self Defense Course in Missouri.

The venue was at GH St Louis, owned by Professor JW Wright, and GH Ozark, Professor Ronnia Page.

The course was handed down to Doctor Sunny Diego by master Royler Gracie and other students.

He is the first Negrense in history to have achieved this level. This is such immense pride and inspiration to many Filipinos. Martial arts is something big and for a Filipino to be a certified teacher in self-defense is significant for our pride.

Currently, the doctor serves as the chief executive officer and an instructor of Gracie Humaita Redlands Training under Professor Marcus Norat.

He is also a great competitor in Jiu-Jitsu, winning many awards and championships such as a 2x PAN American Champion, 2X American Nationals Champion, Former rank number 1 International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) No-Gi Purple, former rank number 1 Jiu Jitsu World League (JJWL) light Featherweight Purple in the world, and a 6 Division Champion.

Doctor Sunny believes in discipline, great work ethics, and love for what he does. He also believes in John Maxwell's saying that "leaders know the way, go the way, show the way."

He wants to inspire a lot of Filipinos and other people worldwide through his hard work.

With this new feat, he vowed to continue improving the skills that he has obtained so that he could very well pass them on to his Jiu-Jitsu students.

He thanked those who were instrumental in his continued achievements in Jiu-Jitsu, especially his trainers, for the opportunity to validate his skills with his sports challengers and his family, who has been supportive of his endeavors.
