THE hot summer season brings us to some cool places in the highlands of the province of Negros Occidental.

As this writer is roaming around, she met three Ilonggos on their way to Bangga Pugad, Barangay Patag in Silay City, to see "pugad" or bird nest in a tree.

A beautifully nature-packed place, the place called Pugad showcased bamboo bridges that are used to connect mahogany, and lauan trees.

Mark, the caretaker of the place, said that the strong typhoon swept all those bamboo bridges, and because of the pandemic, they were not immediately restored.

Ilonggos Sam Failla, Wins Beatizula, and George Mabanes enjoyed the place and got their photos with the scenic background.

There is also a swing with a rope, which is used as a harness to ensure the safety of the rider.

When someone rides the swing, the scenery and fun experience are picturesque.

The Manipis Waterfalls also have a scenic view.

Arch. Cris Laino, who is an advocate of bamboo, helps in the restoration of this place to make it more conducive to visitors.*
