NEWLY-INSTALLED Himamaylan City Mayor Rogelio Raymund Tongson, Jr. vowed to serve his people with transparency and efficiency.

Himamaylan now is considered as a blank canvas where one can freely draw and plan out for the development and progress of their City.

The only way they can do that is to invite investors to come to their city and set aside politics.

“We will try to be transparent, very fast and efficient by practicing the electronic E-governance so that it will be easier for us to double check the programs and projects of our city,” he said.

They are positioning to create an atmosphere of convenience when doing business with the local government.

As long as all transactions will be within the bounds of the law, it will encourage the coming in of more investors to their City.

Tongson also eyes to dredge and expand the town’s own port facility to propel their local economy.

Himamaylan also has the shortest route in going to Negros Oriental via the Himamaylan-Tayasan road and also Himamaylan is the nearest to the Kabankalan airport.

“The moment we fix all the road networks in the upland where there is a specific barangay that one can go straight to Kabankalan City and if these things will happen, this will bring change to Himamaylan,” he said.

“We just don’t have specific agenda but we have to hit all factors and all sectors of the community so that we can truly bring progress and development in our city,” he said.

Mayor Tongson along with Vice Mayor Justin Dominic S. Gatuslao and the ten members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod of the component city in the Southern Negros Occidental took their oath of office before the three Judges in a rites held at the City Hall in Barangay Talaban on a rainy afternoon of July 1, 2019.

Mark Duterte, grandson of President Rodrigo Duterte, Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer, former Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr., former 5th District Representative and now Binalbagan Mayor Alejandro Mirasol and Mr. Frankie Uy who represented 5th District Rep. Marilou Arroyo and several guests came to grace the said inaugural rites.

Mayor Tongson took his oath of office before Judge Raymond Joseph Javier, Vice Mayor Gatuslao before Judge Walter Zorilla and the members of council before Judge Letecia Trigue.

The members of council are councilors Julie Ann Vasquex, Aly Tongson, Jr., Johnny Ades, Michael Bern Javelosa, Emmanuel Castro, Oablo Libo-on, Marian Antoinette Limsiaco, Samuel Belarga, Teresita Gamposilao, and Janet Villafranca.
