THE risk being faced by volunteer firefighters in Bacolod City and around the country is doubled, citing the threat of the coronavirus disease and the danger they endure in preventing conflagration during emergency.

Crispin Chua, corporate secretary of Amity Club and Chairman of the Fire Brigade Committee, said the Manila Divisoria Lions Club and Divisoria Allied Fire Prevention Association donated vitamins such as calcium carbonate tablets and ferrous sulfate with folic acid to the Bacolod City Amity Volunteer Fire Brigade, Bacolod City Chamber Volunteer Fire Brigade, Catbalogan Filipino Chinese Volunteer Fire Brigade Association, Central Tacloban Volunteer Fire Brigade and Ligao City Disaster Response Composite Team.

The vitamins were distributed to the firefighters of those organizations who always risk their lives to serve others during a fire emergency.

Chua said on the part of Amity, they are grateful for such donation as this will help boost the physical condition of the firefighters.

"Our heartfelt thanks to Lions International, Association of Philippine Volunteer Fire Brigades Inc. and Divisoria Allied Fire Prevention Association Inc. for your generosity in donating boxes of vitamins to Amity Volunteer Fire Brigade," he said.

He said this is just the first release of the donation. There will be a second release which they plan to provide to the medical frontliners.
