Young Negrenses compete in the 3rd Battle of Robotics 2023

Robotics may play even larger roles in the future. As it is already at the forefront in some highly developed nations, ours won’t be far behind with these young Negrenses showing their great interest in developing their own robots.

On September 6, a robotics competition was held at the Negros Residences where participants from other towns and cities in the province gathered to showcase their entries for the competition.

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz and with Dr. Ma. Cristina Basa - Orbicido graced the competition.

The governor has warmly welcomed all participants to the 3rd Robotics

competition in our province.

He congratulated the 80 winners from the district competitions in the cities of San Carlos and Bago who qualified for this Provincial Level Competition.

This is also the first face-to-face robotics competition in the province because the 1st and 2nd Battle of Bots were purely done online.

This is one of our innovative projects during the pandemic.

Robotics and Intelligent Machines is one of the most important technologies of the 21st century. It plays a major role in changing the way we live and many aspects of our lives.

"Today robotics is very useful in many fields such as industrial production, manufacturing, and research and development. Thus, we cannot afford not to immerse our education sector to these unprecedented advancements in

technology. When we launched the Negros Occidental Language and Information Technology Center (NOLITC) Robotics Hub in 2019, we envision to have a learning space for students to learn, create, and innovate," he said.

After three years, all these are coming into fruition and gradually we have witness the growing interests of students and teachers in the field of robotics.

"We expect that in the coming years our students will be able build their own robots that will not only win in national competitions but more importantly be able to address pressing issues or challenges in our community. We are grateful to the Pinoy Robot Games that has been our partner in this project since its start. To Mr. Melvin Matulac, founder of PRG, thank you very much," he said.

To the participants, the governor said, "As you join this friendly competition initiated by the Negros Occidental Language and IT Center, it is important to

remember that success is not just measured by the result of the competition, but rather by the process of refining and developing your knowledge and skills. This competition is about perseverance and dedication, so take pride in the hard work you have put into creating your codes to make your robots move and finish the race. Best of luck to all of you," he said.
