ONE person was confirmed dead, while his live-in partner was left in critical condition after a grenade exploded inside their home in Purok Paradise, Barangay Cabahug, Cadiz City, late Friday night, May 10.
Police identified the fatality as Boyet Celiz, while the injured was identified as Leslie Prudente, 22.
Cadiz City police chief, Police Major Robert Mansueto, said based on their investigation, Celiz and Prudente got into a heated argument.
During the incident, Celiz allegedly picked up a grenade, pulled the pin and held on to it until it exploded.
Prudente was immediately rushed to the hospital after sustaining multiple blast injuries, while Celiz was declared dead on the spot.
Mansueto further stated they have received information that Celiz had been threatening to kill himself if Prudente decides to leave him.
Police are now investigating how Celiz acquired the grenade. (TDE)
