13 persons in Banago, 2 others in Tangub test positive for Covid-19

ABOUT 13 persons in Purok Mahimulaton, Barangay Banago, Bacolod City, who have been close contacts of Patient No. 75, who died on July 15, 2020, tested positive for the novel coronavirus (Covid-19).

Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, chairperson of Bacolod City Inter-Agency Task Force against Covid-19, said Friday, July 24, 2020, said he already advised barangay officials to lock down the area.

"It's a super spreader because 13 of them tested positive for the virus," Familiaran said.

He added the City Health Office (CHO) is now conducting contact tracing to determine those who have close contacts with these persons.

Familiaran noted there's a possibility that these 13 persons also visited some areas in Barangay Banago.

The 13 persons were already transferred to the city's quarantine facilities.

Barangay Banago Captain Ricky Mijares said they already locked down the area of Purok Mahimulaton that affected more than 100 households.

He said the barangay will provide food assistance to the affected family.

Mijares also asked the cooperation of barangay kagawads to help him facilitate the assistance to the affected families.

Meanwhile, City Administrator Em Ang said the mother and sister of the General Services Office personnel, who was tagged as Patient No. 89, also tested positive for the virus.

She said Patient No. 89's mother and sister were also utility workers at the Bacolod Arts, Youth and Sports Center (BaysCenter).

She added about 20 personnel at BaysCenter also underwent rapid tests and one of them, wh is also a utility worker, turned out positive in the reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction test.

Ang noted the Covid-19 patients were already transferred to the isolation area.

Ang said Barangay Tangub Captain Noli Villarosa also ordered the lockdown of Purok Seaside, where Patient No. 89 and his mother and sister lived.

As of July 23, Bacolod City has a total of 95 Covid-19 cases. Of the number, 55 patients already recovered, nine still admitted, two under home quarantine, 25 in quarantine facilities and four deaths.
