TWO men were injured in stabbing and shooting incidents reportedly triggered by drunkenness in the towns of Calatrava and Ilog, Negros Occidental.
On Thursday, February 17, Jose Reneboy Cabesas, 47, of Sitio Cabesa Entero at Barangay San Isidro in Calatrava, was reportedly shot by his neighbor “alias Toto Raman” following a heated argument while they were having a drinking session.
Town chief of police Major Lumyaen Lidawan said Cabesas was rushed to the Calatrava District Hospital with a gunshot wound on his neck.
A hot pursuit operation was launched to arrest the suspect who fled following the crime, he added.
Meanwhile, a laborer was rushed to the Lorenzo D. Zayco District Hospital Kabankalan City after he was stabbed also by his neighbor in the fete of their argument while having a drink at Barangay Tabu in Ilog at about 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
Joemarie Villarta, 62, of Sitio Mambusao in Barangay Tabu, Ilog, sustained wounds on his left shoulder and thigh after he was stabbed by suspect Garry Lacson, 37.
Lacson reportedly went to the house of the Villarta to confront him regarding their previous misunderstanding and a heated altercation followed where the latter stabbed the former but missed, the police said.
Lacson then drew his bladed weapon and stabbed Villarta repeatedly, the police also said.
