THE two tenants at the Manokan Country in Bacolod City who were earlier given the notice to pay and vacate have already settled their accounts, City Legal Officer Roemo Carlos Ting Jr., said Wednesday, January 25.

Ting said the stall awardees Gregorio Dima-ala, that was occupied by Rosenie Jaranilla, and Carmen Velez that was also occupied by Annaly Penaflorida, paid the P25,000 per month arrears, which was stated on the compromise agreement that they have signed on October 3, 2022.

Ting said the two tenants failed to pay for November and December, and only they settled the amount on January 24.

In its notice, Dima-ala or Jaranilla was given 15 days to vacate the premises and demanded to pay their arrears of P660,543.20, while Velez or Penaflorida was also demanded to pay the amount of P687,680.95 rental arrears.

“In the meantime, we will not close their stalls since they paid their arrears, but the local market committee will hold a meeting for their final decision because the two stall owners only paid P50,000 each for two months,” Ting said.

He said they will wait for the final decision of the local market committee if they will consider the payment of the two tenants to continue their operation in the area.

On October 3, 2022, due to their failure to settle their dues, 15 stalls at the Manokan Country were shut down by the City Legal Office. The stall owners failed to secure sanitary and business permits, which violated the City Ordinance No. 565 Series of 2011.

They resumed their operations after they signed a compromise agreement with the City Treasurer’s Office to pay their arrears.*
