2 more ROFs to face falsification raps

TWO more returning overseas Filipinos (ROFs) from Negros Occidental will face a falsification of public documents case.

Lawyer Rayfrando Diaz, provincial administrator, identified the two returning Negrenses as residents of Sagay City who came from Saudi Arabia and a resident of Cadiz City who came from Turkey.

The two, Diaz said, declared that they were locally stranded individuals (LSIs) but are actually ROFs.

Earlier, a couple from Pontevedra, with their son, will also be charged by the Provincial Government after they also misdeclared themselves as LSIs.

The couple who came from London and travelled via Istanbul last December 30, 2020 arrived in Bacolod via Air Asia on January 16, 2021.

He said that after undergoing mandatory swabbing at the Bacolod-Silay Airport, they tested positive for coronavirus.

"The Provincial Legal Office is now preparing the case against them and we will act accordingly once the documents are ready,' he said.

Diaz added that they will request the Provincial Board to pass a resolution to authorize Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson to file the case.

Diaz said the two returning Negrenses will face charges for falsification and violation of health protocols.

"We have already sent a letter to the National Inter-Agency Task Force to inform them that these things are happening here at the ground," he said.

They should "plug the gaps to ensure that it will not happen again in the future," Diaz added.
