200 DEU personnel undergo drug test

TWO hundred personnel of Drug Enforcement Units (DEUs) assigned in different police stations in Negros Occidental underwent a surprise drug test at Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) headquarters in Camp Alfredo Montelibano Sr. in Bacolod City yesterday.

Senior Inspector Aireen Cordua, public information officer of Nocppo, said these police operatives submitted their urine samples to personnel of the Provincial Crime Laboratory who facilitated the test.

The test was conducted for the majority of the DEU personnel in the province except for those who were deployed in the First District because they have already finished the test.

On August 10, 34 personnel of DEUs in different police stations in the First District of the province and 14 policemen from Nocppo, including Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Castil Jr., Nocppo provincial director, also underwent the same test.

Cordua said results of the test will come out soon depending on the availability of a chemist at the crime laboratory.

The drug test is part of the internal cleansing of the provincial headquarters to ensure that all personnel assigned as anti-drug operatives are not involved in illegal drugs. (GYM)
