28 'missing' Covid-19 patients urged to notify barangay

BACOLOD City Councilor Renecito Novero urged the 28 individuals who were tested positive of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) during the mass testing on August 27 to 29 to notify their barangays or the City Health Office so that they will be placed in the city's quarantine center.

Novero, chairman of the quarantine center action team, said yesterday of 531 persons who were tested positive of Covid-19 during the mass testing, 33 of them were nowhere to be found, but five of them were already traced by the city's contact tracers last week.

" There are 28 persons left and we need to locate them. Hopefully, they will notify their barangays or the CHO so they will be transferred to the city's quarantine center to prevent the spread of Covid-19," he said.

When the swab result was released, he added that these 33 persons were nowhere to be found because they provided inaccurate contact numbers and addresses.

On August 27 to 29, a total of 4,384 persons in Bacolod City underwent RT-PCR testing for the Covid-19. Of the number, 531 turned positive.

The CHO, along with the Barangay Health Emergency Response Team, was conducting contact tracing to determine those who have close contact with Covid-19 patients.

" We need your cooperation. If you are tested positive, you should be placed in the city's quarantine center," Novero said.

He said they cannot reveal the identity of the Covid-19 positive patients because of the Data Privacy Act.

He added that those who do not know yet their swab result should also coordinate with their barangays or the CHO.

Meanwhile, Novero said the city is now ready to use the five additional public schools to be utilized as quarantine centers.

" These five public schools can provide about 1,000 beds capacity for our Covid-19 patients," he said.

He added currently, Bacolod City has a total of 16 schools being used as quarantine centers.

Novero disclosed that they will also ask the Department of Education to allow them to use more public schools as quarantine centers in the city.
