5 NegOcc hospitals ready for 2019-nCoV PUIs

FIVE hospitals run and managed by the Provincial Government are now ready to admit Persons Under Investigation (PUI) for novel coronavirus (nCoV).

Leo Eusebio, head of Hospital Operations Department of the Province, said isolation rooms are already in place. Eight rooms and eight beds in Teresita Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City; four beds and four rooms in Cadiz City District Hospital, three rooms and three beds in Kabankalan City District Hospital and two rooms and four beds in Valladolid District Hospital.

The San Carlos City District Hospital is also ready.

Eusebio said that these isolation rooms at the hospitals are existing already since the outbreak of measles and some are private rooms which are activated for nCoV.

Eusebio also bared that nurses who will be assigned at the isolation rooms in case there will PUIs will only be exclusive at the isolation rooms and would no longer be assigned to attend to other patients outside the isolation room.

They will be wearing the necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Eusebio said.

So far he said there is no additional PUI in the five district hospitals after the one from La Castellana who sought voluntary confinement at the Provincial Hospital in Silay City.

Eusebio meanwhile revealed yesterday that Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson has ordered for the acquisition of 3,500 additional PPE for responders and hospital staff in case there will be more PUIs in the province.

He said that the PPE is disposable and should only be used by one person. A set of PPE costs P3,500, Eusebio said.

Prior to the nCoV outbreak, the DOH has been distributing the PPE.

Aside from PPE, the province will also purchase face masks, Eusebio said.

The Provincial Government allocated P33.5 million for prevention and control of nCoV. (TDE)
