51 Negrense cops undergo drug test

A TOTAL of 51 policemen, including the top cop of Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo), underwent a surprise drug test simultaneously conducted in two separate venues in the province Friday.

Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Castil Jr., Nocppo director, led the test at the headquarters around 10 a.m. while Superintendent D'Artagnan Katalbas, chief of San Carlos City Police Station, and Chief Inspector Rogelio Pacificar Jr, head of the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) led the same test at the said police station.

Aside from the three police officials, 34 personnel of drug enforcement units in different police stations in the first district of the province and 14 policemen from Nocppo also underwent the same test.

Personnel of the Provincial Crime Laboratory gathered their urine samples for the test.

Senior Inspector Aireen Cordua, public information officer of Nocppo, said the drug test is part of the internal cleansing of the provincial headquarters.

“We just want to ensure that all personnel assigned as anti-drug operatives are not involved in illegal drugs,” she added.

Cordua said results of the test will come out soon, depending on the availability of the chemist at the Regional Crime Laboratory. (GYM)
