55 cops face admin cases

A TOTAL of 55 personnel of Police Regional Office Western Visayas are facing administrative complaints for the month of April.

Superintendent Joem Malong, spokesperson of PRO-Western Visayas, in a phone interview with SunStar Bacolod Friday, May 4, said 62 cases were received by the regional headquarters against these policemen last month.

Some police officers have only one case while others have two or more cases each, she added.

From April 2 to 6, seven cases were recorded while 21 cases were noted from April 10 to 13.

No cases were recorded from April 16 to 20 while 32 cases were filed the following week, April 22 to 27.

PRO-Western Visayas received two additional cases in the last week of the month.

Malong said all these police officers will undergo an initial evaluation and will be subject to pre-charge investigation.

A summary hearing will follow to determine the final verdict if they will be proven guilty of their offense.

“This is part of the due process,” Malong said, adding that the regional office continues to intensify their internal cleansing.
