6 more Bacolod schools receiving free school bags Monday

PUPILS from six more public elementary schools in Bacolod are receiving free school bags with school supplies Monday, July 2.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia and other city officials will lead the distribution of bags with school supplies to the pupils of C. L. Montelibano Elementary School and Alfredo Montelibano Elementary School at 8 a.m., ETCS (Education and Training Center School) 1 and 2 at 10 a.m., and ETCS 3 and Rizal Elementary School at 2 p.m.

Last Friday at 8 a.m., Leonardia, Rep. Greg Gasataya, and Councilors Caesar Distrito and Bartolome Orola led the distribution of 2,923 school bags to Banago ES 1 and 2 pupils.

On the same day at 10 a.m., Leonardia, and Councilors Cindy Rojas, Caesar Distrito, Em Ang, and Renecito Novero led the distribution of 3,415 school bags to Bata ES 1 and 2 pupils.

“We are happy to see the enthusiasm of the pupils. I take it to mean that they are interested in their school work,” Leonardia said after the distribution.

The City Government is distributing a total of 68,000 free school bags with school supplies to Grades 1 to 6 public elementary pupils of Bacolod.

Each bag—a backpack—contains two notebooks, two pencils, two ballpens and a ruler.

The distribution to other schools will follow in the coming days.

Leonardia said they have prioritized big elementary schools and they hope to finish the distribution in a week’s time.

There are 46 public elementary schools in Bacolod City.

The mayor earlier said he is a strong advocate for education, as his first committee when he was a councilor was the Committee on Education. (PR)
