8 house parents at SDC replaced

THE Social Development Center (SDC) in Bacolod City has replaced eight house parents assigned at SDC for allegedly tolerating the misdemeanors of the children in conflict with the law (CICL) and children at risk (CAR) inside the facility.

Roselyn Rubrico, head of SDC, said they have a total of 15 house parents assigned at SDC and eight of them have been replaced this month after committing some violations.

Of eight, five of them were not retained by the city while three others were reassigned to other departments.

Before she assumed her post at SDC, Rubrico said the eight house parents, whom she refused to name, already committed some violations inside the SDC, but it was only acted during her management.

At present, SDC has a total of 35 CICL and CAR. Nineteen of them were facing drug charges while others were facing robbery, murder, and attempted homicide.

Rubrico said the house parents should serve as an example inside the SDC and they have the authority to discipline the children.

“The children should not manipulate them,” she said.

She added they already held an orientation of the policies for the house parents inside the SDC as well as the implementation of the Republic Act 9344 or the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act. (MAP)
