879 ECQ violators nabbed in Negros Occidental

A TOTAL of 879 quarantine violators were arrested in Negros Occidental since its implementation last March 30, 2020.

Based on the record of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo), 832 were apprehended for violating curfew and 47 for disobedience to persons in authority.

Seven cases were already filed, 48 were for regular filing and the rest were warned and advised to go home.

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson issued an executive order, placing Negros Occidental under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), which is set to run until 11:59 p.m. of April 30.

Nocppo Director Romeo Baleros appealed to the public to obey the law and follow the advice of the authorities.

"To combat this infectious virus, we all need to do our part. If you have no important business outside your residence, better stay at home," he added.

Meanwhile, Nocppo will also implement measures to correct the reported mass gathering of people in markets.

These include deployment of police personnel along with personnel from Philippine Army, enforcement of social distancing and mandatory wearing of mask and instituting one entry and one exit system in wet markets.
