PASSENGERS were shocked when they saw the headless body of a man lying beside the road at a remote area of Barangay Zone 16 in Talisay City, Negros Occidental on Saturday, September 17.

Lt. Col. Arthur Baybayan, who is the chief of Talisay City Police, identified the victim as Mario Demetrio, 48, of Purok Sigay Magsungay in Barangay Singcang-Airport, Bacolod City.

At about 10 p.m. Saturday, a concerned citizen informed the Talisay City police that a headless man was found at Hacienda Sagrado 2 in Barangay Zone 16.

“When the police arrived at the area, they saw the victim was only wearing a black short pants and was hogtied while his severe head was recovered a few meters away from his body,” Baybayan said.

The victim’s severe head had a suspected gunshot while his chest and back had hematoma, he also said.

When Demetrio’s mother Anita heard this news yesterday, September 18, she immediately coordinated with the Talisay City police and went to Funeraria de Lourdes where she identified her son.

As of yesterday, Baybayan said they are still exploring several angles in the killing of Demetrio and one of which is the possibility that he has an idea as to the identity of the suspects behind the killing of a commercial sex worker in Bacolod last week.

The 26-year-old commercial sex worker, whose name the police withheld, was found with fatal wounds on her face and neck beside the road at Purok Progreso in Barangay Alijis on September 8.

For his part, Bacolod City Police Station 7 commander Captain Elmer John Bonilla confirmed yesterday that Demetrio is indeed the pimp they were looking for to shed light on the incident.

“It was him who introduced the sex worker to the unidentified customer at the Goldenfield Commercial Complex the night before she was found dead,” Bonilla said.

However, he said they failed to see Demetrio as the latter did not surfaced anymore after the sex worker was killed.

Demetrio’s mother said she has no idea whether her son was a pimp because what she knew was he was working in a store selling spare parts atthe Bacolod City downtown area.
