Assessment on Capitol projects underway

THE assessment of the major infrastructure projects of the provincial government is still ongoing.

Lawyer Rayfrando Diaz, provincial administrator, said the Provincial Engineering Office (PEO) has not yet submitted a report on the status of the major infrastructure projects.

“We will deal with it as soon as the PEO submits their report,” Diaz said.

Among the major projects are the Negros First Food Terminal, the Mambukal Convention Hotel, and the Capitol Multi-purpose Building, he said.

It also includes Capitol-funded public markets, Diaz said.

“They are covered by contracts. It should not have been a problem for the provincial government. It should have taken care of itself but we are now the ones troubleshooting it”, he added.

Diaz appealed to the concerned contractors of these projects that have slippages “to finish them as soon as possible.”

This projects he said are either “not completed or have not been turned over to the provincial government.”

It does not just concern one or two contractors but many contractors, Diaz said.

All the projects were started during the time of former governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. (TDE)
